More About Ari:

Ari Katz (they/them) is currently pursuing their MA in Disability Studies through the CUNY School of Professional Studies. They also hold a BS in Geology and Environmental Studies from Haverford College. Growing up neurodivergent and having acquired a mobility disability in college, Ari knows firsthand how important it is for educational institutions to proactively create accessible learning environments that enable students with and without disabilities to thrive. During undergrad, Ari dedicated their senior year to increasing the accessibility of Bryn Mawr College’s geology program. They continue to explore the intersection of environmental justice and disability justice through their graduate studies, and they work to advance accessibility in the built environment as the Operations and Development Associate at The Kelsey, a non-profit based in the Bay Area that builds and advocates for accessible, affordable, and inclusive housing. Ari is so grateful to have been selected as a semi-finalist for this year’s Heumann-Armstrong Award!
